Les échafaudages sont nombreux et variés. Il existe trois grandes familles pour les regrouper
Les échafaudages fixes. Echafaudages droits et collés au mur/ bâtiment. Il en existe plusieurs tailles qui s’adaptent aux différentes hauteurs.
Les échafaudages mobiles. Echafaudages roulants et amovibles qui s’adaptent à plusieurs structures. Ils sont donc polyvalents même si leur structure est la même qu’un échafaudage fixe.
Les échafaudages suspendus. Echafaudage qui ne prend pas appui sur le sol mais qui en revanche est fixé au bâtiment grâce à un système de poulies. Cet échafaudage est utilisé pour les déplacements verticaux.
